Supervised Visitation and Exchange Program

Supervised Visitation

The Supervised Visitation Program, located at 451 E. Henrietta Road, provides a safe, supportive and neutral setting for children to visit their non-custodial parent(s) in instances where child abuse, domestic violence or other issues of family discord prevent them from visiting without supervision. This structured visitation setting provides parents an opportunity to learn and improve their parenting skills through individualized parent education, role modelling, coaching and support. Supervised Visitation staff are trained in two evidence based parent education models, Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Incredible Years (IY); when deemed appropriate, parents may choose to participate in these programs. PAT teaches parents how to identify their children's developmental needs as well as to develop the skills to address these needs as parents. IY teaches parents parenting skills to effectively parent their children as they grow. All visits take place in comfortable, home-like rooms furnished with games, toys and craft activities for families to enjoy and share. Supervision is provided by staff and trained interns and volunteers.

Supervised Exchange

The Supervised Exchange Program, also located at 451 E. Henrietta Road, offers a safe, neutral and supervised setting for the exchange and return of children between their custodial and non-custodial parents for a period of unsupervised visitation. Parents are provided with a safe environment to exchange, which allows for the most focus to be given to spending quality time between non-custodial parents and their child(ren.)
