Therapist – Family Trauma Intervention Program (FTIP)
TITLE: Therapist – Family Trauma Intervention Program (FTIP), Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Provides home-based counseling services to children and their families, for whom the children are at risk of foster care placement, have experienced severe abuse or a fatality, and/or where trauma, including exposure to domestic violence, has been a major disruption to family life. General goals of the program include child well-being and relationship repair. Attachment theory and psychodynamic theoretical underpinnings are woven into a variety of evidenced based and trauma informed practices, and candidates must demonstrate working knowledge of these frameworks.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience working with trauma, children and families. Should be licensed or license eligible. The strongest candidates will have an expertise in therapeutic work with children and/or adolescents. Must be familiar with the psycho-social aspects of child maltreatment, attachment, and multi-cultural issues, and must demonstrate the commitment and ability to perform as a competent therapist in child development, trauma, and attachment from a family systems perspective. Experience with Child Parent Psychotherapy and/or trauma focused clinical practices preferred. Adherence to professional and ethical standards required, including ethical principles related to client interaction, documentation, report writing, file maintenance, and confidentiality. Should be willing to conduct continuous upgrading of professionalism by attending available workshops and seminars. Must have the capacity to learn applicable software systems to complete necessary documentation.
