TITLE: Director of Development
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Programs and Evaluation
HOURS: 40 hours per week including remote and in-office hours to meet agency needs
SALARY: $85,000-110,000
JOB SUMMARY: The SPCC Director of Development focuses on identifying new donors, maintaining relationships with donors, and developing new strategies to secure funds as it relates to SPCC. This position will also be responsible for SPCC’s special events and may assist with identifying grant opportunities and grant writing. This position will ensure that all fundraising efforts align with, reinforce, and highlight SPCC’s values and priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develops and implements long-term strategic plans for securing funds to support SPCC.
- Identifies and maintains relationships with individual and corporate donors.
- Takes primary responsibility for all fundraising efforts, including the coordination of special event committees in partnership with the CEO, Board of Directors, Junior Board, and staff.
- Provides leadership and oversight for SPCC’s fundraising events.
- Chairs fundraising related committees.
- Facilitates the Junior Board meetings to support special events and nurture community relationships.
- Assists with contributing to the content of SPCC’s website and social media platforms to promote events and opportunities for giving.
- Assists with media related communication and identifies opportunities for public messaging to support development efforts.
- Assists with the creation of internal and external outside written communications including press releases, social media, agency newsletters, annual reports, etc.
- Documents processes and procedures for consistency and replicability.
- Assists with identification of grant opportunities and grant writing.
- Attends and participates in required meetings such as supervision, staff and departmental meetings.
- Attends monthly collaborative meetings with the CEO and Vice President of Programs and Evaluation to plan efforts strategically.
- Serves as an agency/program representative on community boards and professional committees.
- Exemplifies a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Related professional experience and demonstrated success with donor recruitment, charitable giving, and fundraising which may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Capacity to communicate effectively and motivationally.
- Exemplified success in relationship building skillsets.
- Experience organizing and leading group efforts.
- Exemplified successful experience using publishing software and online platforms; customer relationship management software preferred.
- Proficient in customer relationship management.

Candidate will be required to successfully complete the Agency Confidentiality Agreement, required Background Check, and State Central Register Clearance. The Candidate must possess a valid NYS driver’s license with a good driving record and carry agency required levels of automobile liability insurance.
