Melanie Spann has been a Peer Counselor with SPCC WIC since June 2020, though her passion for supporting families and advocating for breastfeeding began long before she joined the team. Her deep commitment to this work stems from a personal belief in its importance and a desire to uplift others through education and encouragement.

Melanie is a proud mom of four and brings both professional insight and lived experience to her role. She has a strong interest in medicine, human behavior, and abnormal psychology, and is always eager to expand her knowledge in these areas.

When she’s not supporting WIC families, Melanie is enjoying life with her own. She and her children love spending time outdoors—gardening, roller skating, hiking, camping, kayaking, and heading to the beach or playgrounds. One of their favorite activities is taking long walks with their dog, Echo. With such a full and active home life, spare time is a rare luxury—but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
