Our Mission: We provide a safe and supportive environment by promoting healthy family interactions during supervised visitation and exchanges. We respectfully blend our expertise with an understanding of individual strengths and needs within a family.
The SVP program is located at the Monroe County Visitation Center and provides a safe, supportive and neutral setting for children to visit with their non-custodial parent in cases where child abuse, domestic violence or other issues of family discord prevent them from visiting without supervision. This structured visitation setting offers parents an opportunity to learn and improve their parenting skills through individualized parent education and role modeling; while balancing the need for safety and security. All visits take place in comfortable, home-like rooms furnished with games, toys and craft activities for families to enjoy and share. Supervision is provided by staff and trained volunteers.
Supervised Exchanges also take place at this location; children transition from one parent to the other and back again following a period of unsupervised visitation.
The SVP program provides the following: Staff who are respectful, friendly and knowledgeable; Safety through staggered arrival/departure times; Separate parking and waiting areas for each parent; On-site security provided by active or retired law enforcement. Referrals are received from both the local courts and/or the Monroe County Department of Human Services.
